April 2008

Residents of Elberon,

The work on the Community Building Kitchen has been completed. During our insurance renewal process the Insurance Company required an inspection of the Community building and they found that the Hood we had was not up to CODE and the hood had to have an Ansul “Fire Suppression system”. It was not big enough to hold all of our cooking equipment Iowa state code states there is to be a 6in” overhang so we had to purchase a new Hood. The city applied for a grant to help with the purchasing of the hood. We were awarded the grant last winter; no money came out of tax payers pockets. It was brought to our attention that having the hood against the wall was the most cost effective way to go. To install it on the wall it required some remodeling, we had to make a few adjustments. We moved the counter tops, removed the window to the library so we could get both cabinets up. It may take some time to get use to the way the kitchen looks but overall we have more room to move around. All remodeling labor was donated by Scott and Laurie Mcmains, Myself and my family, Ron Wiebke and the Boy Scouts. The Floor was painted by Scott Mcmains and Myself. The rest of the Community Building floor will be getting painted this summer.

Town Wide Cleanup will be April 19th, anyone that would like to get out and help please meet at the community building at 7am, and everyone is welcome to help. We will pickup junk to take to the landfill, hazardous material; tires and paint will not be picked up. All appliances (refridgerators, Freezers, Washers, Dryers, Stoves etc...) have a $10.00 Fee to be picked up please see me for a sticker to put on your appliance, if it doesn’t have a sticker we will not pick it up. Please have everything set out before 7am Sat. April 19th so everything gets picked up.
